About Oakstop
Oakstop is a community focused art gallery that exhibits work from local and emerging artists. The dedicated gallery space is housed within a larger shared working environment for artists and creative entrepreneurs, providing a unique backdrop for rotating solo and group exhibitions. The existing creative community also serves as a support resource for exhibiting artists, who often engage in creative collaborations for exhibit openings and events. Exhibit openings frequently feature live performances and other entertainment from Oakstop members.

The purpose of the exhibit is to showcase some of the artists in the upcoming volumes of Black Artists on Art and engage them in a dialogue about the role of Black artists in contemporary society. The exhibit also honors Dr. Samella Lewis and many of the visual artists featured in the original Black Artists on Art books who made such valuable contributions to the Black Arts Movement.
