"Creative Conversations"- "Pop Up Research Station - Virtual Café"

What are the Creative Conversations?

"We envision the project as a portal for shared knowledge, a resource of best practices, ongoing professional development, and a place for moral support to enhance our collective impact."

Phantom Gallery Chicago, Alpha Bruton, and Phantom Galleries LA, Liza Simone have come together with the intent to create a network of support for artists, curators, and arts organizers engaged in temporary public art installations in storefronts and projects that engage community response.

An open studio visit with Lavon N. Pettis and the curators of Wild Yam Collective as they share their trajectory and process, in coordinating and curatorial practice.

Format: Introduction, talk about yourself as an artist, and what began the trajectory of your art practice.

Investigation: The specific question I want to press is: what are some ways we, as artists, examine the state of our environment, and what is the intersection of art and social justice, as seen in the practice of curators?

What does it mean to exhibit in temporary installation spaces outside of the museum? Unanticipated Impacts? How does the current body of work intersect with the ideas of art and social justice, and or Tactical Urbanism?
