Ilewski founder of Faces Not Forgotten, at the Bronzeville Artist Lofts Arts
Incubator, 436 E. 47th Street, on Friday September 19, 2014, from 6 –
9:30pm during the Bronzeville Trolley Tour.
Her Quilt Project,”Faces
Not Forgotten” are portraits of young gun violence victims (20
and under) to raise awareness of the toll of gun violence in this country and
to keep the memory of these young victims visually "alive" will
be on exhibit.
Christine Ilewski,
pays for Faces by conducting methods workshops as a visiting artist with the
Liquitex Artist Outreach Program. This Friday she will give a 2 hour
material/methods workshop for artists and fine art students.
The instructor's
curriculum event open to adult artists, and will be conducted 6-8pm in
the BAL-Arts Incubator, space is limited to RSVP required. There
is no charge to you. This is a program sponsored by Liquitex for the past 50
years. There will be samples for those that signup, she does not sell any
products. It is strictly educational.
My general outline
covers:
1. Surface prep: gesso
(clear, tinting sculpting) staining
2. Paint viscosities:
fluid (inks), soft body, heavy body, markers and spray...their individual
strengths and intermix ability
3. Medium (uses)
airbrush, glazing, slow-dry, pouring, fabric, gels, texture gels, string gel,
4. and finally
varnishing
